Summer Vacation (Going Home) - 2003
After getting back to Marion we had to return home. On the way out we had noticed a rather large Cabella's store and rather cool looking hotel near Kansas City so we targeted this as our overnight stay and we're glad we did. I took us about 5 hours to get there and we enjoyed the pool, the arcade, Cabella's and the restaurant.

We also stopped briefly in Fulton, MO. This is the site where Winston Churchill gave his famous "Iron Curtain" speech just after WW2. There was a small museuem and gift shop. This photo is of the chapel which was imported from England.

Summer Vacation (Amsterdam) - 2003
While we were underway on our vacation, I received a call about a meeting in the Netherlands. Having "never" been there I opted to go and cut into our vacation (time in Marion, IL). I was able to fly out of Marion through St. Louis into Amsterdam. The 2 day meeting itself was rather uneventful but I enjoyed the overall experience. Although I traveled by myself I spent the time overseas with Wayne Campbell and John Souva. These photos are of the time I spent away from work. As for work, it was interesting since I was working with some NATO representatives, particularly a gentleman from Turkey.
As for our free time, we ate at some nice restaurants near the hotel which was not actually in Amsterdam but it was near the ocean (I can't even think how to spell the name!). On our last full day there we had most of the afternoon and rode the train to Amsterdam and did some sightseeing.
The only real down side of the trip was my luggage. United Airlines thought it best my bag stay in Chicago the whole time and left me with only the clothes on my back (I did carry my ditty bag on the plane with me).
