Blytheville Visit
When the boys and I got the word about the passing of Becky's dad, we of course immediately made plans to get to Marion for the funeral. Since we were in Mississippi as part of our church's youth group supporting relief operations, we decided to rent a car (from Gulfport) and drive directly to Marion (about 11 hours). All in all the trip was fairly uneventful, but we did have one neat diversion, passing through Blytheville, AR, my second assignment while in the Air Force (from Dec 89 - Dec 91). This was the town were Brandon first started "school" and Jacob of course was born in (11 Oct 91).
This is the playland of the McDonalds (the ONLY McD's in town!) were we took the kids to play and eat.
This is the church we were members of, Trinity Baptist Church.
Blytheville's main park, famous for its pond and ducks.
Our first home, the end apartment (#10)
The base hospital were Jacob was born. Unfortunately the base has been closed almost since we left and many of the facilities have fallen into quite a state of disrepair.
Jacob sitting on the sign (you can faintly see the letters).
Inside joke ...
